UAB Radio Paging – Paging Message Record Retention PolicyThe UAB Campus and Hospital Departments recognize the ever-increasing need for security in all forms of message communications. The UAB Department of Radio Paging’s paging system delivers critical patient status/care, hospital clinical and system infrastructure, and campus safety information through its systems and over the air to our subscribers. Due to the critical nature of some of these messages we have developed a modern and current methodology for retention of messages sent out over our systems that addresses the security concerns and needs of all our subscribers. Ensures messages will be available and secure for a reasonable amount of time for review by authorized UAB Personnel or Departments. Once messages have reached the policy’s purge date they will be properly deleted from our system by our technicians and staff. At this date and time information is a key factor in the world today. It offers a form of knowledge and power that can be abused and cause harm to individuals and institutions. Our retention policy helps to secure critical messages delivered from the paging system. Modern communications are an ever evolving and changing field and environment, new threats can arise at any time. Therefore, this policy in its present form is subject to alteration and modification to keep pace with changing technology, rules, and guidelines. Pager – Physical device carried by the subscriber that receives alphanumeric messages from our paging system’s Radio Frequency (RF) Network. Pages – Messages delivered over Radio Paging’s UHF and 900MHz RF network. E-Paging – Messages delivered through our system to our subscribers LTE devices and/or official UAB email addresses. RF – Radio Frequency references those frequencies that are a part of the Radio Frequency Spectrum and in our specific case the individual frequencies the FCC authorizes and license us to use for message delivery. UAB Radio Paging will retain records of, and copies of the actual messages delivered through our paging system to our subscribers’ devices for a period of 3 years from the date the message(s) went through our system. Once messages reach this “aging” point UAB Radio Paging personnel will remove them from our system and databases to insure confidentiality and security. Subscribers with questions about message delivery times or other concerns about messages can request transcripts/copies of the messages during the retention timeline by contacting the UAB Radio Paging’s offices at: Suite 101 1717 11th Ave South, Birmingham, AL 35294. Office # 205-934-2599,
Once the messages have been purged by our offices at the end of the 3 year cycle a review of them will not be available again. |
